About Me

The Lord saved me at 14, and I am blessed to be Bo Nelson’s wife and mother to three boys. I began homeschooling when my eldest was in preschool , and I discovered Charlotte Mason education through a friend. This philosophy has allowed us to teach with a biblical worldview and appreciate God’s creation through exploration and literature. We joined Crossroads when my husband became the Senior Pastor at First Baptist Church of Tyrone, where the school is located. I share the same educational principles and convictions as the school. My fondest memories are of reading living books outside with my kids. Looking forward to seeing you around Crossroads.

About Me

Crossroads Christian School has been near and dear to my heart since 1992 when I taught First Grade.  After raising three children and “retiring” from teaching I find myself drawn to the loving community, timeless methods of educating children, and nurturing staff that has sustained Crossroads Christian School for nearly 30 years.

About Me

God put the desire to teach in my heart at a very young age. I’ve been blessed to be a teacher for over 35 years teaching at home, in public and Christian schools. It has been a great joy and privilege to be part of Crossroads for fifteen years. Here we can put Christ first and freely point to Scripture to develop a Biblical world view. Working with the families and staff at CCS has been one of the greatest joys of my life.

About Me

At CCS, I have the daily privilege of helping young Image-Bearers discover the glory of their Creator in all areas of academic life–from Bible study and mathematics to grammar and history–showing them that Christ is in all and through all.

About Me

I count it as a special privilege to be part of the covenant community at CCS. I have taught
math in several Christian schools, but I wasn’t acquainted with the Charlotte Mason
method until I homeschooled my boys. Our family was so blessed to read living books and
enjoy God’s creation. Learning became a way of life. I am thankful to be part of a school
that teaches in this manner.

About Me

Finding a learning atmosphere that is peaceful, enriching and nurturing to our children was a priority when we were finding a school that fit our family values. CCS has been a blessing, and I am excited to be on staff this year to be able to pour back into the students! I’ve been a music teacher since 2005 and love to incorporate learning through music when I can!

Serving the community as a naturopathic doctor, Joanna is also a wife and Crossroad’s mom, and is committed to being involved in her children’s school community. Crossroads is an integral part of the Chipman family’s desire to raise their children (6 boys and 1 girl!) to thrive while serving Jesus. In her very little spare time, she enjoys CrossFit, running, crafting, and reading a nerdy book or two.
